The Town Pump Charitable Foundation is giving $15,000 to the Livingston Food Resource Center, part of a $1 million effort to help food banks across Montana.

LFRC Director Michael McCormick said the center received a letter yesterday alerting them of the award.

365体育网址“It’s better than good news, it’s terrific news,” McCormick said Tuesday.

Town Pump has been a great partner for food banks, McCormick said, especially given the LFRC didn’t ask or apply for any funds.

“This is Montanans helping Montanans,” Foundation Director Bill McGladdery said in a press release announcing the donations. “Town Pump recognizes the urgency to help out our neighbors now as food insecurity grows in this unprecedented emergency.”

McCormick said there has been about a 300 percent increase in demand for emergency food support during the coronavirus pandemic, and the LFRC is now feeding about 300 households per week.

365体育网址The money from Town Pump will likely go to purchasing food to distribute, McCormick said.

365体育网址The LFRC is currently providing curbside meal pickup 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. on Fridays for families with children. Next week, McCormick said, those times are going to change to 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and 12:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday for families with children.

365体育网址McCormick said the LFRC is really trying to emphasize the Friday family pickup, making sure all Livingston children have access to good nutritious food.

The center has also stepped up its delivery capacity, McCormick said, with help from local ministers.

365体育网址According to the press release, Town Pump is sending emergency grants to 100 different food banks, food pantries and shelters in 83 communities, and the grants do not require any matching funds.

“This is another wonderful example of what it means to help your neighbor,” McCormick said.
